Life is a holy longing (Augustine),   a longing against the backdrop of creation “telling of the glory of God” as it “groans and suffers, waiting eagerly”. Working at the craft of painting, my focal point is the reality of this balance between the “groaning” and telling of God’s glory.   Through surface quality, color and tactile marks the familiar narrative devices lose their focus and leave us with glimpses, hints of this balance,  a still celebration of “God’s grandeur” (Hopkins).
